I hate people who steal
and taking something which someone has left by accident is theft.
Two things I’ve left in the gym lately - a pair of headphones in my locker, and on Sunday, my iPod shuffle, and headphones on the treadmill. I totally forgot about it, I’d unclipped it after falling off so as to not distract me, and just forgot.
Both have gone. Not been handed in. Now I know, that should I have found something like that, I’d have handed it in. Straight away. The fact that so many people in that gym are willing to just STEAL, really annoys me. What right do they have to take my stuff?
The lady on reception just told me, that she left her GHD straighteners to cool, walked out and forgot them. Got to the top of the stairs and came back. In that time, someone had taken them. EVen when she’s looking for them, that person - and everyone else who’d watched her take them, just allowed it to happen.
What has happened to society where this kind of wilful theft is now common place? Am I in the minority that I’d hand stuff in?
Over Christmas I ordered a mobile phone for my mam, 24 hour delivery. Only a cheap, £40 one. It hadn’t come 36 hours later and amazon despatched another one straight away. The next day, both phones arrived. After Christmas, I sent the other phone back. I couldn’t keep it - it wasn’t mine.
So, now this month, instead of doing my usual ‘random act of kindness’ for someone, I’m going to be replacing my own iPod shuffle. Payday is Friday. I’m going to order one from Apple and get my name on it, and buy a pink one.
But, if I see you in the gym with a blue iPod shuffle with a bent hinge. It’s mine and I WILL challenge you.
